Medical/Health Requirements
Requirements for Full-time Students
Checklist:
- All students attending courses on Stony Brook campus must submit all immunizations requirements to the Wolfie Health Portal, demonstrating compliance with New York State Health Laws. If you have not submitted the required immunization records, there is a registration hold on your SOLAR account, and you cannot register for classes until that hold is removed . The registration hold will be removed once you complete and submit the requirements. Please submit all immunization records to the Wolfie Health Portal immediately to have optimal selection of classes.
- It is REQUIRED that this information be submitted 2-3 days after you have paid your deposit. If these requirements are not met by this deadline a late fee may be incurred, and additional enrollment will be prohibited.
- Required forms and instructions for submission can be obtained here.
- All full-time students must have health insurance coverage at all times without exception. Stony Brook University offers a health insurance plan for all domestic students that meet this requirement. This plan pays for most medically necessary bills, such as doctor visits, mental health counseling, prescriptions, emergency room, lab testing, diagnostic testing, surgery, hospitalization, etc. The plan covers our students anywhere in the world, every day, no matter whether on campus or on semester breaks.
You must contact the insurance office immediately if you lose your insurance coverage: (631) 632-6054.
All students must review their health insurance policies to determine the date when the student may "age out" of a parent/guardians' policy. It is mandatory that the insurance office be informed as soon as you are aware of this aging-out date, so we may enroll the student in the University plan immediately.
All full-time students at Stony Brook are automatically billed for the University Health Insurance plan at the beginning of each semester.
Requirements for Part-time Students

- Immunizations Requirements submitted to the Wolfie Health Portal as per NYS law.
- All students must read the medical information about meningococcal meningitis at our website, and complete and return the Meningitis Response Form . The information and form can be downloaded here.
All students are required to pay the SUNY Stony Brook Counseling and Health Fee
In accordance with State University of New York Policy 7804, Stony Brook University charges certain fees in addition to the tuition fee for students enrolled at the university. With certain exceptions, generally all students are required to pay the Stony Brook University Counseling and Health Fee. The fee covers comprehensive services for both mental, medical, and preventative health care, as well as our 24/7 Timelycare telehealth services. This fee does not substitute for your requirement to have health insurance. If it is found that the current Counseling and Health fee was not charged by the bursar, this charge will be placed on your student account.
The counseling and health fee does not cover any co-pays for blood tests sent to an external laboratory, prescribed medications, or deductibles charged by my current medical insurance. It also does not cover care received at the Stony Brook University Medical Center.
